"Is That All There Is?"
Remembering Peggy Lee

Monday, September 25, 2017 7:30PM

An evening with The New Standards and friends
Peggy Lee cast a spell when she sang. She epitomized cool, but her trademark, “Fever” — covered by Madonna and Beyoncé — is the essence of sizzling sexual heat. Hear that classic tune and other songs she made famous, along with stories about Lee and the bizarre dream world she inhabited, at this tribute. Hosted and narrated by James Gavin (“a killer biographer,” Hollywood Reporter) and based on his acclaimed book Is That All There Is?: The Strange Life of Peggy Lee, the show features the brilliant and quirky Verve recording star Nellie McKay; Jazz at Lincoln Center favorite and former David Bowie band member Catherine Russell; and hit-making blues-jazz belter Davina Sowers (Davina and the Vagabonds). Twin Cities idols The New Standards (Chan Poling, John Munson, Steve Roehm), drummer Davu Seru, guitarist Dean Magraw and horn player Aaron Hedenstrom serve as house band for this glimpse into the life and music of an inimitable songstress.
