This season the Guthrie welcomes internationally acclaimed Propeller to present Twelfth Night and The Taming of the Shrew in repertory, two comedies full of mistaken identities, transformations and deception. Well known for communicating the genius of Shakespeare with a distinctive physical approach including the use of an all-male company, Propeller presents Shakespeare with clarity, speed and imagination. Britain’s The Stage raved, “Propeller makes Shakespeare feel sharp, contemporary and urgent without skimping on the language or cutting corners. And for young audiences, I can’t imagine a more exciting introduction to our greatest dramatist.”
Twelfth Night is the one where … Viola (disguised as a boy) works for Duke Orsino, with whom she falls in love while wooing (on his behalf) Olivia, who falls in love with the boy Viola appears to be. Malvolio wears cross-gartered yellow stockings.
